Robert Edward Smith, age 80 passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Bob’s journey began in Savannah, GA in 1943 as the beloved son of Samuel and Ingrid Smith. After earning his degree from the University of Georgia in 1965, Bob dedicated three years to educating young minds at Shuman Jr. High School. Following this, he embarked on a successful sales career with notable companies like Westinghouse, Motorola, and General Electric before venturing into entrepreneurship with his own advertising firm.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob was a skilled licensed sailing captain, navigating the intercoastal waters from Charleston to the Florida Keys aboard his cherished motor vessel, 'Old Timer,' for over two decades. He was also a devoted Mason and a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
A memorial service will be held 11am on Friday April 5th at Baker McCullough Funeral Home in Garden City to honor his memory. The family will receive friends from 10:30am until the time of the service.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kenneth Smith.
He is lovingly remembered by his son Robert Smith Jr. (Jennifer), daughter Michelle Bryan (Robert), brother Gary Smith (Wanda), nephew Kevin Smith, niece Tori Smith Tuten, grandchildren Jason Smith (Vacey), Suzanna Smith, Kristen Smith, and great-grandchildren Alex Smith, Emma Smith, Eden Smith, and Dalton Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that remembrances be sent to your local Gentiva Hospice.
