Robert Scott Sexson

Robert Scott Sexson (76), of Savannah, Georgia, formerly of Richmond Hill, Georgia and Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia on Friday, January 20, 2023.

Born February 16, 1946, he was the son of the late Robert Bant and Annabel Sexson. Bob grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from Western Kentucky University. Most of his adult years were spent in and around Savannah, where he was the founder and co-owner of R & R Restaurant Supply (1990-2017). Bob was well known and respected in the hospitality industry throughout eastern Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina. He continued to be an active employee and advisor for the business until the time of his death.

Bob served his country with honor in the US Army and was in Vietnam in 1969 - 1970. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was a vocal supporter of veterans and veteran’s causes.

Surviving Bob are his daughter and son, Mary Esther Sexson Hartley of Savannah, Georgia and Scott Edward Sexson (Beth) of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Hayden Hartley, Meredith Hartley, Beau Sexson and Mary-Jane Sexson; two brothers, J B Sexson and Jack Sexson (Mary); and extended family members in Pensacola, Florida, Indianapolis, Indiana and across the Carolinas. Also surviving is his former wife and mother of his children, Esther Cone Sexson.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his two sisters, Debbie Sexson Garth and Jill Sexson.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, was a very special place in Bob’s life. He also had a wide-ranging taste in music “from Harry Nilsson and the Beatles to Pavarotti.” Bob loved to sing while driving. He would encourage everyone to sing or listen to their favorite music with their friends and family.

Services will be private.
