Robert Paul DeNitto, 92, of Savannah passed away Thursday, November 16th, at Habersham House. He was born in Jamestown, New York in 1925 to Italian immigrants, Salvatore and Madeleine DeNitto. At age 5, he and his family moved to Georgia. He grew up on a farm in Brooklet and graduated from Bulloch High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps right out of high school and proudly served in the Pacific in World War II. After discharge he moved to Savannah where he met his wife of 50 years, Syble. He was an avid golfer and member of Mary Calder Golf Club. After retiring from the U.S. Postal Service, his job was playing golf, which he continued to do until about a year before his death.
He is survived by a daughter, Dr. Paula DeNitto and son-in-law, Blake Carlyle; granddaughter, Alison Romberg (Chris); great-granddaughters, Emma and Mary Griffin; brother, John DeNitto and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Raymond and sister, Chlotilde.
