Robert Nathan Southwell, 100 of Savannah passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 under the care of Hospice of Savannah, Inc.
A native of Bulloch County, Georgia, Robert was the son of the late Hulda Howard Southwell and Curtis William Southwell.
A US Army veteran having served in WWII, Robert was a 1951 graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in Business. He retired after 26 years from Union Camp Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 61 years, Margaret Burroughs Southwell, his grandson William R. "Bobby" Waters, his sister Frances Parrish, infant sister, and brothers William Southwell, and Rufus Southwell .
Survivors include his three daughters Brenda Waters, Libby Reinhart (John), and Jackie Southwell (Bob); his grandchildren Cindy Snyder, Stacie Shidemantle, Amy Chalmers, Lauren Southwell and Nathan Southwell, brother Curtis L. Southwell, several nieces and nephews, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
His greatest joy, besides his family, was going to church and studying the word of God. He was an active member of the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church. Prior to that was one of the founding members of the Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church in Rincon,Ga. and was a past deacon of the Savannah Primitive Baptist church for 26 years.
