Robert Lee McElhaney, 65, of Garden City, died Monday at home.
He was born in Olney, Ill., and moved to Savannah 17 years ago from Shelbourn, Ind. He was a carpenter, working with the Local Laborers Union No. 896. He also belonged to the Laborers Local No. 204 in Terre Haute, Ind. He served in the Air Force Reserves and was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church.
Survivors: his wife, Phyllis B. McElhaney of Garden City; a son Joe McElhaney of Pooler; a daughter, Kathy M. Wise of Port Wentworth; a brother, Eugene McElhaney of Indianapolis; four sisters, Maxine Frazier of Okeechobee, Fla., Audrey Banfield of West Palm Beach, Fla., Betty Hutton of Trilla, Ill., and Mary A. Irvin of Bethalto, Ill.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, burial in Hillcrest Abbey West.
Remembrances: Building Fund, in care of Garden City United Methodist Church, Hospice Savannah or a favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
