Robert Gustav (boB) Holmen, 61, died Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was well known around Savannah as a musician and all-around character. He was an excellent guitarist and associated with many local bands. Most notably he was a member of the legendary local band, Superhorse.
He was born in Savannah, Georgia on May 28, 1962. boB attended Cathedral Day School and Benedictine Military School. From a young age boB saw life from a different point of view. He found his passion in music. His colorful language and expressions left many confused, but he always got his point across. Savannah has lost one of their unique personalities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary D. and Karl A. Holmen; and his brothers, John and Joseph Holmen.
He is survived by his brother Karl Holmen, III (Cynthia); his sister, Mary H. Ellis (Chip), of Nashville, Tennessee; two nieces, Lauren Holmen, and Margot Mahar. He is also survived by his many friends.
A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Catholic Cemetery, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
