Robert Glenn Gault, 85, of Rincon, GA passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Effingham Care Center in Springfield, Georgia.
A native of Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of Donald Vincent Gault and Dorothy Bennett Gault.
At the young age of 17, Mr. Gault entered the United States Air Force, serving honorably for more than 20 years as an airplane mechanic, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant. He met and married the love of his life, Dorothea Lillian Mission, while she too was serving. After his retiring from the Air Force, the family moved to Savannah, where he had accepted a job at Gulfstream Aerospace, where he worked his way up to Quality Control and traveled all over the world in that capacity before retiring. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Mr. Gault was very involved in his church, Rincon Baptist Temple, where he served in various capacities including singing in the choir. While attending Rincon First Christian, he coached the church softball team, leading the team to a championship. In his free time, Mr. Gault could often
be found relaxing in his favorite recliner. He was a collector of many things, but most especially enjoyed selling watches and coins that he had collected over the years. A kind and caring man, he always took a pizza with him to get his haircut, so that the salon staff would have a meal for lunch.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Jack Campbell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothea Gault; son, Robert Glenn Gault II (Susie); daughters, Sharon Oliver (Mark) and Karen Driggers (Wayne); grandchildren, Thomas Moore (Jacqueline), Robert Nease (Taylor), Trevor Driggers and Candice Price (Billy); nine great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Claude Gault; and two sisters, Carole Ann Carlisle and Beverly Gault.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2pm in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from Noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West on Dean Forest Road with Military Honors.
