Rita Meierhofer Norris

Rita Meierhofer Norris 75, passed away on July 6th surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of Savannah . She was preceded in death by her parents Heinz and Ilse Meierhofer and sister Heidi Silber.

Rita was born on Sept 6, 1945 in Demmin Germany. Rita worked as a gas station attendant in Lorsch-Hessen, Germany where she met her American Solider and the love of her life for over 57 years, Randolph Norris. Rita left her childhood home with Randy and joined him on his 22 1/2 year military career. Rita and Randy eventually settled down in Savannah, GA with their three children.

Rita spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, oma, and friend to many. Rita's happiest place was at her home where she was always surrounded by friends and family. Rita always enjoyed having her coffee time and decorating her home for the holidays. Rita always welcomed anyone to her home and immediately made them feel like family. Rita's hobbies included her family, keeping Randolph in-line, and most importantly her Hummel collection.

Rita is survived by her beloved husband Randolph Norris; a son, Steven Norris (Ginger); two daughters, Nanci Hackle (Eddy Hackle Jr.) and Patricia Moore; her nephew, Thorsten Silber; and her grandchildren, Eddy Hackle III (Kaylyn), Brandon Hackle (Charlie), Kristen Moore (Jordan Vaughan), Stevie Norris, Jordan Cannon, Joseph Graham, Emily Tucker; and life-long friends in Germany.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
