Richard Leon “Doc” Mobley, age 79, of Savannah passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Legacy at Savannah Quarters.
Mr. Mobley was born on August 13, 1943 in Savannah, the son of the late Clem Tyler Mobley and Grace Moore Mobley. He was a 1961 graduate of Savannah High School and after graduating served as a reservist with the United States Army. Following his military tenure, he began his formal education at Central Wesleyan College where he earned a degree in history and continued his graduate studies at Clemson University where he earned a degree in psychology. Doc then began teaching high school psychology in Anderson, SC where he also served as a counselor until he was recruited by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1972. He served as a Special Agent until retiring in 1998. Through the years he was a loyal patron of Spanky’s – River Street and will be fondly remembered by his friends there.
Mr. Mobley is survived by his loving partner and wife of 36 years, Margaret Lou Mobley; sister, Rebecca Woodard; brother, William Butch Mobley and wife Peggy; loving and devoted caregiver, Lisa Lindsey; his beloved pet, Sugar; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved pets, Shiloh and Sophie.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2022 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406. Burial will follow the funeral service at Hillcrest Abbey West.
