Richard Michael Jakeman

March 11, 1947 — November 1, 2023

Richard Michael “Mike” Jakeman, age 76, of Savannah, Georgia peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 after a courageous 3 year battle with Parkinson’s.

Mike was born on March 11, 1947 to the parents of Richard H. Jakeman and Marie (Lane) Jakeman. He attended and graduated from Groves High School. Mike went on to serve in the United States Army for 2 years. He went on to work for Thom McAn, Northrop Grumman and then spent the majority of his career at Gulfstream before retiring in 2009.

Mike was an avid blood donor, woodworker, NASCAR and Atlanta Braves fan, and Coca~Cola enthusiast. He always quick with a joke, he knew everyone and everyone knew him. He was a loving father and doting grandfather. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Marie Lane Jakeman, and Richard H. Jakeman.

Mike is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Jakeman Cooper (Garrett), Melissa Casey; his sister, Joanne Jakeman Goble; two grandchildren, Courson Casey Cooper, and Madeline Casey Griner, two nephews Chris Long and Jeff Long, his friend Hilda Van Meter, and his Uncle “Jake”.

The family will be receiving friends 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
