Richard “Rick” R. Harste, age 65, of Savannah, GA, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his residence.
He was born February 10, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, H. Richard Harste and his mother, Patricia Harste. He was briefly survived by his wife Paula Patolinna; He is also survived by his children, Sarah (Ryan Cull) Harste, Robert Harste, Jordan Harste, and Richard Wesley Harste, his stepchildren, Linus Lindroos, Pinya Kimberly, and Anna Christie, his sister Kate Wahlers, and his four nieces.
Rick was in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army in Fort Stewart, Georgia. He graduated with his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1986. After graduating from law school, he joined the law firm of Whelchel, Dunlap, and Gignilliat in Gainesville, Georgia. He later went into private practice in residential and commercial real estate. During his time in private practice, he restored the historic home of J. Carter, a prominent Victorian home on South Main Street in Gainesville. He was a member of the Northeast Georgia Bar Association, Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, and the Rotary Club of Gainesville.
The family invites those wishing to celebrate Rick to his visitation service on Friday, December 16th, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough – Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory at 2794 US-80 W in Garden City, Georgia. The family will gather for a private ceremony at Greenwich Cemetery the following day.
