Rev. Thomas Joseph Greene, age 90 died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, December 12, 2011 at the St. Philip AME Church with Rev. Dr. John Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Memorial Gardens, with military honors.
Rev. Greene was born April 23, 1921 in Greenpond, South Carolina to the Rev. Joseph P. Greene and Jannie Shepard Greene. He was a member of St. Phillip AME Church and was a WWII veteran of the United States Army.
Rev. Greene was preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Ross and a sister, Ethel Cohen.
Survivors include: Wife, Clara Louise Ross Greene of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, John Ross and wife Lanetta of DeSoto, Texas; two sisters, Ada Hugine of Charlotte, NC and Lille Mae Adams of Philadelphia, PA; Caretakers, Ned Edwards, Jr. and wife Mary A. L. Edwards both of Savannah and a host of Nieces and Nephews, cousins and friends.
Rev. Greene will lie in state from 11:00 am until the hour of the service at St. Philip AME Church, 613 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Savannah, GA 31401.
