Retha Mae Heyward, 70 died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Candler Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Bonaventure Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Magnolia cemetery.
Retha was born June 11, 1941 in Estill South Carolina to the late Joe H. Brooker and Lillie Mae Gardner Brooker, who survives of Savannah. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death her father; husband, Cleve Heyward.
Survivors include: two sons, Leroy Heyward, Bernard (Jay) Heyward both of Savannah; three brothers, Jimmy Lee Brooker, Harold L. Brooker and John A. Brooker all of Savannah, GA; one sister, Josephine E. Brooker of Savannah; 3 grandchildren, Gina Heyward and Bobby Young both of Savannah; Rashamel Johnson of Jacksonville; one great-grandchild, Jalaya Weldon of Savannah; one sister-in-law, Terry L. Kelly of Savannah; two very special and devoted friends Patricia Young and Robin Jones both of Savannah; also a special niece and nephew, Janelle Kelly of Savannah and Alvin L. Brooker of Durham, NC. A host aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday, March 9, 2012 at Bonaventure Funeral Home.
