Rebecca (Beckie) Lee Beecher Kramer passed away on June 28th at Emory University Hospital from complications related to her battle with cancer. Beckie was born on August 15, 1957, the beloved third child of Lorraine and Jack Beecher. She had strong childhood memories of the love of her parents, their love of extended family and friends, and their love of the Lord, which helped guide her in life.
One of her greatest joys was her marriage to Frederick W. Kramer III in 1989. Beckie and Fred were best friends and are surely rejoicing to be reunited. Beckie and Fred created a home where people felt welcome. Over the years their family, friends, children, and children's friends knew that they were welcome in the Kramer home to receive warmth, peace, and wisdom. Many were the times that someone showed up at Beckie's door for safety and care. She was a wise counselor to many, but her wisdom was especially prized by her husband.
Beckie also had a marvelous sense of humor and delighted in whimsy. It was this delight that helped her build a happy home for her children. Beckie had a deeply generous heart and thoughtfully gave of her time and resources to many. Finding the perfect gift, especially if it was fun, gave her great joy.
During her battle with cancer, she acknowledged the hardship and mystery of suffering while always running back to Jesus, the Man of Sorrows himself, who taught her how to love. The question “how long, oh Lord” has now been answered for Beckie as she rests in Christ awaiting the resurrection.
She is survived by her two children, Hannah Little (Philip) of Sumter, SC and Frederick W. Kramer IV of Savannah, GA, her new grandchild, Philip David Little III, mother-in-law, Jo Ryan Kramer Matson of Savannah, GA, two sisters, Laurie Powers of Savannah, GA, and Jacqueline Hennig of Atlanta, GA, her sister-in-law Shirley Kramer Popeil DuPree of Dallas, TX, her niece Jennifer Bell of Dallas, TX, two nephews Joshua Powers of Savannah, GA and Zachary Powers of Arlington, VA, along with many beloved first and second cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Frederick William Kramer III, her mother, Lorraine Alice Peters Beecher, and father Jack Truett Beecher.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 5th from 6pm to 8pm and a service Saturday, July 6th at 11am. Both will be held at Baker McCullough on Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah, GA.
