SSGT RANDY LEE SWEAT
April 3rd, 1973 - July 11th, 2023
Randy was born in Harford county Maryland on April 3rd 1973. After graduating from Rising Sun High School in Cecil county Maryland in 1991. He joined the Marine Corps. He completed three tours in the Gulf War. At the time of his retirement, he was Transport Maintenance Chief and Martial Arts Instructor Trainer and received multiple Commodations and Awards. After serving his country he went on in education to receive his teaching degree from Craven Community College in 2014, his Culinary Arts degree in 2019 and Baking and Pastry Arts degree in 2020. Randy was an independent business owner and operator of Sweat and Sons Bingo Supplies. He also was Culinary Arts Instructor at Carteret community college in New Bern, North Carolina.
He enjoyed gardening, collecting automobiles, axe throwing. His most favorite past time was meeting new people and making new friends. He was a true member of the community in this world. He belonged to Grantham Masonic Lodge #725 AFAN New Bern, NC, Joseph L Davis American Legion Post # 47 Maryland Dixon-Conderman VFW Post # 2154 New Bern, NC, Sudan Shrine, New Bern, NC, Moose Lodge #1797, Havelock, NC.
He is preceded in death by his mother Shelley Sines, his father Howard Sweat, his brother Wesley Sweat, his son Robert Wheeler and his grandson Declan Wheeler.
He is survived by his boys Mark Wheeler, Greeneville TN, Tyler Sweat, Bulls Gap, TN, Andrew Sweat, New Bern, NC. His grandchildren Kendall Wheeler, Colora , MD, Robert "Robbie" Wheeler, Cape Coral, FL and Lily Sweat, Bulls Gap, TN. His sisters Kathy Mooneyham, Gibsonton, FL, Sara-Jayne Miller, Street, MD, Gwen Sanders, Cecilton, MD, Sandra Capkovic, Tampa FL, Ida Sines, Elkton, MD and his inamorata Courtney Gardiner, New Bern, NC.
Services will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home in Garden City, GA on Tuesday July 18th 2023 visitation 11:00 to 12:00 services 12:00 to 1:00, internment will be at Hillcrest Abbey West at 1:30.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your local Moose Lodge in his name.
