Randolph "Randy" Epps Lockett, Jr., age 67, of Savannah passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Randy was born in Savannah on January 3, 1956, to the late Betty Ruth Reynolds and Randolph Epps Lockett, Sr. He was born and raised in the lovely Isle of Hope neighborhood, where he discovered his love for the water and fishing. He was a child of God and was a past member of the St. Thomas Church on Isle of Hope. He attended Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, including Isle of Hope Elementary, Bartlett Middle, Jenkins High, and Groves High. Randy was an electrician by trade and was a past member of the Local 508 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Labor Union. Some of the electric companies for which he worked included Braddy Electric, Vos Electric, and Pro Electric.
Randy loved his family, particularly his two sons. He would always take them out to see friends, family, and to areas around town to run errands, discover the city, or to sometimes just ride around and listen to music in his truck. Randy instilled into his two sons that there was nothing quite like a "good education," and to persevere through life's inevitable difficulties and challenges. Randy was an avid fisherman, always going fishing with family and close friends to areas including the Isle of Hope Marina, Butterbean Beach, Savannah River, Ogeechee River, Lake Mayer, Daufuskie Island, the trestle, and off the Tybee Island jetties and pier. In addition, he enjoyed other outdoor activities, such as taking his boat on the water and exploring sandbars, swimming in rivers, casting for minnows, and soaking up the sun. He made friends wherever he went, sometimes running into old classmates, acquaintances, and family. He was enthusiastic about the University of Georgia football team, particularly when they played and defeated the Florida Gators. The Super Bowl was one of his favorite times of the year.
Randy loved jamming out and listening to classic Rock and Roll; some of his favorite artists included Sammy Hagar, ZZ Top, Poison, Whitesnake, and Billy Idol.
Survivors include his two beloved sons, Sharif and Shadih, his wife, Elouise, his ex-wife, Raja, a multitude of cousins including Linda and Shirley, and his close friends, Kevin, John, Charlie, and Bill; all of Savannah, Georgia.
He will be missed by all, but his memory and legacy will continue to live on.
