Ramona Collazo Colón, age 80, of Orocovis, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully at home in Savannah, GA, on October 4, 2024, following a recent diagnosis of breast cancer. Surrounded by her loving family, she remained strong until the end. Born on September 1, 1944, she was the youngest of 10 siblings and a proud Puerto Rican woman known for her strength and resilience. Ramona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Efraín Román Ortiz, who passed away on July 30, 1983.
Ramona was known for her quiet strength, she was a woman of deep faith who believed in God. She was a true superwoman, never one to complain or show pain, even in difficult times. She lived her life with grace and kindness, embracing the simple joys that brought her happiness. Her family holds cherished memories of her warm and caring nature.
She is survived by her children: Luisander Muñiz (Rhonda Key Muñiz), Betsy Muñiz (Jose Zambrana), and Nilsa Román (Melvin Williams Jr.); six grandchildren: Aribeth Lawrence (John Lawrence Jr.), Ariana Díaz, Ariomar Díaz, Oneida Muñiz, Aslin Johnson (Darrin Johnson II), and Anthony Román; and nine great-grandchildren.
Ramona will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but they find comfort in knowing she is at peace. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Family will be receiving friends Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral homes Hodgson Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
