Ralph Arnold Dudley, 84, of Ellabell, GA, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at his home.
A native of Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Fred Dudley and Dorothy Barnes Dudley.
He grew up on a farm in Fairbluff, NC and attended school there. After graduation, he served briefly in the National Guard. He moved to the Savannah area in the early 1970's and pursued a career in the construction and trucking industry. He gained a wealth of experience as an employee of M.C. Anderson and R.B. Baker, which led him to start his own company, RDLC LLC, in 2000. He was a hard worker who said that trucking was not only his livelihood but was his hobby. When he was not actively driving a truck, he was working on them. His mind was always on work. Even when camping, he would tell stories of his experiences in the industry to anyone that cared to listen.
Ralph was a family man who doted on his family as often as he could. He enjoyed his grandchildren immensely and made sure to have his drivers honk their horns for them whenever they returned to the yard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Tammy Coleman; grandson, Eric Coleman; brother, Kenneth Dudley and sister, Phyllis Shackelford.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Ann Dudley; children, Eddie (Nancy) Dudley, Buddy (Joyce) Cooke, Lonnie (Michelle) Cooke, and Michelle DeLoach; grandchildren, Shana, Mac, Austin, Kevin, Daniel, Jessica, Jenna, Georgia and Jonathan; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Gail (Howard) Chaffin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
