Philip Rahal, Jr., age 75, Savannah, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.Philip was surrounded by his loving wife and daughter at their home on Skidaway Island and under the care of Hospice Savannah. Phil was born on July 20, 1949 in Savannah to Mr. Philip Rahal, Sr. and Mrs. Zelma Rahal. He lived in this area all his life and was a 1967 graduate of Jenkins High School. After graduating from Jenkins High School in 1967, he attended Armstrong State College before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1970. He was stationed in Hawaii, Guam, and finally Vietnam. Upon returning to Savannah, Philip joined his family as Co-Proprietor of Phil’s Snack Bar. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Darlington Thomas Corporation and in 1995 he and his wife Mary opened Women’s Health Boutique of Savannah where they continue to provide support to women and their families during their journey with cancer.
Phil will be remembered for his strong Faith and his deep love for and commitment to his family. He lived his life with genuine kindness toward everyone and never met a stranger. He especially enjoyed his yellow Corvette and was an audio video enthusiast who had a great love of music and movies.
His family includes his wife of thirty-four years, Mary Rahal of Savannah; his daughter, Alexandra Rahal of Savannah; his sister, Susan Rahal Gillenwater (Randy) of Guyton; two brothers-in-law, seven nieces and nephews, many cousins and close friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 12:00 noon, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home burial to follow in Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy.
