Peter George Antonopolo

November 30, 1960 — December 1, 2023

Peter George Antonopolo ,63, who was larger than Life passed away suddenly on December 1, 2023.

He was born November 30 th 1960, at Telfair Hospital in Savannah Georgia. He is predeceased in death by his father George Peter Antonopolo. Peter leaves behind his mother, Effie Antonopolo, his sister Athanasia Chokos (James) , his uncles, Panagioti Economopoulos (Eleni)-Greece, Nikita Economy (Christina)- Atlanta, Dimitri Economopoulos (Evantheia)-Greece, his aunt Litsa Patikoupoulou- Greece, his honorary aunt Dimitra Pashales-Savannah and a myriad of 1st cousins (22), 2nd cousins (34) and 3rd cousins (at least 4). A big family with an even bigger number of friends that were like his family.

Peter was an entrepreneur who was involved in many businesses from Custom Stitch (with his sister), Savannah Gyro (him and Alberto (our little brother) to Great Wraps (with one of his best friends Gary) to Wiches ‘n’ Wings (with one of his best friends Philip). Peter was a risk taker and a sometimes get rich scheme kinda guy. He was a hard worker and loved doing things with his hands and trying new things (failed octopus recipe).

Peter finished as my mom likes to say one year and a half of college and met friends and solidified relationships that lasted over 40 years particularly as a member of the PhiKapps (Phi Kappa Theta) organization.

Peter was one of the original founding members of the longest running Poker groups in Savannah for over 40 years!!! He loved his poker buddies!

He attended many ROLLING STONE concerts (favorite ALL TIME BAND) as well as a host of others. He bragged he had the biggest assortment of music downloaded on his I-phone. I know he will be at the Rolling Stone Concert in Atlanta in June 2024.

Vegas was his Mecca where he knew all the hotels, visited all the shows (Cirque du Soleil), rated all the eateries and played at all the casinos. It was his happy place. Everyone wanted to go to Vegas with Pete.

A true Renaissance Man or as some would have it a Jack of All Trades! He was always there to help a friend out if they needed help with something, be it a fence, a ceiling fixture or whatever. He recently finished painting outside his mother’s entire brick house and was very proud of that (It is beautiful!). He was a prankster. He loved scaring little kids and little kids loved Peter. Albertito and Daniela (children of Alberto- our little brother) were his best play pals! Peter was a good guy. He loved his church (even though he didn’t always attend). He loved his family as well as his friends (“ I’ll be there in 15 Buddy”). He adopted Alberto and his family as his own and took pride in their accomplishments. He kept secrets (because he forgot them soon after) and he knew a thousand jokes. He had an infectious belly laugh…Peter is going to be greatly missed. He certainly was loved but don’t tell him that- he was Mr. Cool. Yea Mr. Cool with his Oakley Sunglasses. Everyone has a Peter story….
