Percy Leon Manning Jr., age 84, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 surrounded by his family and close friends.
Leon was born August 15, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama. He served as a minister for the church of Christ in congregations in Vermont, Maryland, Kentucky, and Georgia. He also worked in the Insurance industry at different stages of his work life. After retirement, he remained active supporting churches and reached out to anyone who might need help finding the truth found in the Bible.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents; Dora Irene Parrish and Percy Leon Manning; and two daughters; Gwen Whittaker, and Phyllis Rabanus.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Reida Manning; his son, Mike Manning (Brenda) of Allen, Texas; his daughter, Pam Manning of Savannah, Georgia; his grandchildren, Meghan Holden (Zach), Rebekah Villarreal (Mario), Ryan Manning, and Kyler Sanford; and four great grandchildren, Leah Villarreal, Lexi Villarreal, Hazel Holden, and Brody Holden.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at Greenwich Cemetery, 330 Greenwich Road, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
