Patricia Lynn Ritter, age 81, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 after finishing her course and battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s, and entered into her Father’s house.
Pat was born on November 28, 1942 to the late John and Dorothy Crimmins in Staten Island, New York, the oldest of their two children. After the family moved to Miami, Florida in her early teens, she would graduate from South Miami High School, And Mount Sinai Nursing School.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Jack Crimmins, and her husband of 32 years, Maurice Ritter.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Poole (Derward) of Guyton, Georgia, and Kelli Clark, of Port Wentworth, Georgia; her grandchildren, Tiffany Inzer (Russell), Ashley Covington (Jeffrey), Alex Ortiz, Brandon Clark, Dakota Clark, Hunter Moss, Raven Flower; great-grandchildren, Addie Grace Inzer, Paxton Inzer, Owyn Moss; her Aunt, Jean Crisson of Staten Island, New York; and the many children whom she kept and nurtured.
She spent her life in service as a nurse, a military wife, and a home daycare provider. Her last working years were spent serving as a School Crossing Guard for the Savannah Police Department, and working as a greeter at Sam’s Club.
Pat’s greatest joy was serving her Lord Jesus Christ in the various churches of the Savannah area since settling here in 1976; Windsor Forest Baptist, Southside Baptist, Powers Baptist, and the last 21 years at Calvary Baptist Temple. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and the Sweet Spirit Sunday School class. Her joy was singing, in choirs for the Lord or anywhere. She also served in the Stephen Ministry and the His Radio Prayer team.
Pat was known for talking to anyone. There were no strangers, just people she had not talked to yet. She lived to her own rhythm and style, in which she was awarded the beloved nickname “Gooney Bird” by her son-in-law. Her signature saying was, “SMILE! God loves you!”
The family would like to thank Rivers Edge Community, Sunabella Memory Care, and GHC Hospice for their care of mom, particularly the dear, sweet ladies who ministered to her these recent years.
The visitation will be held Friday March 24, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:30pm, with a Memorial service at 7:30pm in the Chapel at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel. In honor of her bubbly personality, please come dressed in bright colors.
