Mrs. Ouida Smiley, age 78, of Savannah, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Hospice of Savannah after an extended illness.
Ouida was born on August 16, 1943 in Montgomery County, Georgia to the late Lewis and Pauline Chambers of Uvalda. Ouida was a 1961 graduate of Montgomery County High School and moved to Savannah shortly thereafter. She was a homemaker and a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband Paul E. Smiley; a brother, Lewis Edward Chambers; and a sister, Johnnie Foskey.
Mrs. Smiley is survived by her son, Michael Humphries (Margaret) of Spokane, Washington; two grandchildren, Christopher Humphries (Sarah) of Bellingham, Washington, and Susie Humphries of Oak Harbor, Washington; five step grandchildren, LeiAnn Saniger, Christianna Lea Clinton, Jared Clinton, Alyssa Foster and Richard Foster; 10 great grandchildren; her brother, Dennis Chambers of Uvalda; and three nieces.
The family will be receiving friends at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406, Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathon Phillips officiating. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
