Oliver Thomas Anchors, Jr., age 88, of Lake Worth, Florida passed away Monday, July 1, 2024.
Mr. Anchors was born May 1, 1936, in Savannah to the late Oliver Thomas Anchors, Sr. and the late Ruth Walsh Anchors. He was an electrical salesman by trade and a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah, where he was a deacon and a member of the Chapel Sunday School Class. Mr. Anchors was also a member of Landrum Lodge #48, F & A.M., Alee Temple Shriners, and was a Gideon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Helen Harrison Anchors; daughter, Charlene Anchors Purvis; and sister, Mildred A. Harvey.
Survivors include his sons, Steven T. Anchors, Kenneth L. (Paige) Anchors; 6 grand children (Ansley Anchors, Blake Allen, Mary Allen, Sidney Anchors, Harrison Anchors, Breanne McGrath); 2 great grandchildren; and loving nieces, Deborah H. Dixon and Cathy Owens Garner.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr Savannah, GA 31406).
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Temple.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in his memory may be made to Gideons International in his name.
