Norman H. May, 91, of Savannah passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born in Stockton, Georgia, he was the son of the late Arthur D. May, Sr. and Delilah Register May.
Norman, better known as “Poppy”, was a graduate of Commercial High School and Armstrong State College; a veteran having served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Chevis Oak Baptist Church, the Boy Scouts of America and the Propeller Club. Norman retired from Strachan Shipping after 35 years of service, then retired from Mitsui OSK Lines. He enjoyed spending time with his family, church family & working in his woodshop daily until shortly before his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Veronee May, brother, Arthur D. May, Jr., daughter-in-law, Lisa May.
Survivors include his son, Michael May (Mary), daughter, Kim Tomlin (Mike), sisters, Virginia Lee, Jeannine Helmey, grandchildren Jennifer Poth (Jeff), Justin May (Heather), Brittany Tomlin, Cameron Tomlin, step-grandchildren Bobby Beedle, MaryAnn Poland, Emily Quigley, 3 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kyle Waddell officiating.
Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers: Justin May, Jeff Poth, Cameron Tomlin, Beal Crawford, Gary Page, Steve Carter, Stan Wojtowicz and Tommy Tomlin.
