Nora Irene Smith Richardson, age 70, of Savannah passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 in Savannah, GA, after battling cancer.
Nora was born on November 14, 1952 in Savannah, GA to Walter Earl Smith, Jr. and Audrey Anna Smith, of Savannah. Nora was a graduate of Savannah High School. For over ten years, Nora has been the primary caretaker for her father.
Nora was preceded in death by her mother Audrey Smith. Survivors include her father Walter Smith, brother Bruce Smith of Athens (wife Pam), sister Carol Ayer of Augusta (husband Birkie), nieces Lori Mayfield of Augusta, GA, Allison Mayfield of Gainesville, GA, nephews Weston Mayfield of Augusta and Kevin Smith of Atlanta (wife Chelsea), uncles Rick Smith of Carrollton and Steve Smith of Guyton, aunts Rose Wada of Savannah, Mary Smith of Florence, SC and Bessie Thomas of Hampton, SC, and several cousins.
Nora loved animals, especially her beloved dog Bella. One of her favorite pastimes was cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs with her dad and friends. Nora was an accomplished piano player and artist. She had a natural gift for interior design and salesmanship.
Nora’s family is forever grateful that she was blessed to have the support of many loyal friends, including Anna Betz, Barbara Cannon, Denece Connington, Dr. Shirley Eason, Marcy and Wayne Ellis, Pam Henry, Dicky Richardson, Mike and Ann Richardson, Jackie Smith, Angela Welborn and others. Also, we are thankful to Pastor David Laughner, Dr. Mohammad Masroor, the St. Joseph/Candler Cancer Center and navigator nurse Laurie Luteran, and Hospice House of Savannah for their specialized care.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
