Mrs. Eunice P. Barnes, age 88, passed away November 1, 2018. She was born in Candler County on June 3, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva Jane Mongin, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandson. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, John (Johnny) E. Barnes, Sr., two daughters, Vickie Owens (Sonny), Connie Burson, two sons, Eddie Barnes (Mary Delaine), and Ronald Barnes (Pattie), 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great- great grandchildren, 2 brothers and one sister.
She graduated from the Metter High School in 1946, was a member of the Beta Club and the Debate Team. She was a faithful member of the Savannah Holy Church of God for over 62 years. During this time she held numerous teaching positions in the Sunday School Department as well as was an active member of the Savannah Holy Church of God Missionary Group. She loved her church and her Lord and Savior. Her family was her joy, having a lasting influence on each one. She enjoyed shopping and her clothes was her trademark.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 4, 2018, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Savannah Holy Church of God at 707 Little Neck Rd., with funeral services at the church on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 12 pm. With the Rev. Ryan Ralston, Chaplain Sean Burson, and Rev. Paul Mongin officiating.
