Mildred “Mimi” Hunter Winn passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Mimi was born May 23, 1936 in Ben Hill County, Fitzgerald, Georgia. She was the fifth of six children born to Robert and Laura Hunter.
Mimi was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her main purpose in life was to serve the Lord and to ensure all was well with her family. Mimi retired in 2005 from the Federal Government as a civil service employee with 27 years of service. She continued on the work for another 12 years as Property Book Officer and Medical Care Equipment manager at Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, Georgia.
She was an emeritus member of Palestine Chapter 249, Order of the Eastern Star, member of Generation One, and Smart Senior. Mimi was also a member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church. The last several years she attended South Newington Baptist Church with her son Michael Winn and his family. She loved both of her churches very much.
Mimi is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Johnnie L. Winn; three sisters, Marguerite (Gene) Rogers, Catherine (Hollis) Piper, Grace (Gene) Hudson; two brothers, Bobby (Mildred) Hunter, Billy (Sarah) Hunter; and sister in-law, Margie Winn.
Mimi is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jimmy) Cowart; sons, Michael L. Winn, John (Brenda) Winn; ten grandchildren, Kristy (Jordon) Free, Danielle (Michael) Shuler, Mandi Purchase, Megan Winn, Saige Winn, Michael Winn, Jr., Robert Cowart, Ashley (Kevin) Saxon, Amber Coshatt, Daniel Deaton; and nine great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406 followed by a funeral service and Order of Eastern Star at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will take place at Hillcrest Abbey West, 1336 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, Georgia 31405.
