Mildred Edwards Bergman, 90, of Richmond Hill, Georgia passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. Mildred was of the Baptist faith.
She struggled with major health challenges during the past several years but finally lost the battle. She was ready to go “Home” and has now completed her journey to Glory Land.
Mildred enjoyed a long and successful career with the Federal Government until her retirement from U.S. Customs in March of 2007.
She is survived by a son, Michael Bergman (Linda) of Gainesville, Georgia; daughter, Pamela Patterson (Roy) of Richmond Hill, Georgia; grandchildren, Jared Bergman (Sonia) of Orlando, Florida, Amy Rifenburg (Michael) of Gainesville, Georgia, and Josh Patterson (Ashley) of Richmond Hill, Georgia; three adored great-grandchildren, Maddux, Darcy, and Lincoln Rifenburg of Gainesville, Georgia; her sister, Shirley Clanton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred H. Bergman; parents, Veta and Oliver Edwards; her siblings; Bessie Corcelius, Danny Edwards, Lucile Backhaus, Charles “Junior” Edwards.
There will be no visitation service. Mildred always wanted a small, quick, private service and the family will be honoring her wishes.
