Mr. Michael Morrell Jr. (Mike) was born April 20,1963 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Ella Daniels-Morrell and Michael Morrell Sr. He departed this earthly life on September 12, 2019.
He joined 2nd Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age, after he moved to Savannah, GA. Preceding the passing of his biological mother, where he was educated in the Chatham County School System. He graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1982. Mike was a hard worker; he began working with his father while in high school where he mastered his craft as a cement finisher. After the passing of his father he continued the family business "Morrell & Sons Concrete finishers." He later started working with "Mahany Construction" where he worked for several years. Later he focused on self-employment and was part owner of "M&M Construction" with co-owner Matthew Brown.
In 1999 Mike married the love of his life, Veronica Whitehead. She was surely "his queen", which he affectionately called 'Baby girl" although he had no biological children, he was truly
a great father and mentor to three outstanding young men.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, as well as brother- Henry Morrell, two sisters, Dorothy Morrell (MeMe) and Judy Morrell (Penny). He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Veronica Morrell, three sons, Anthony Daniels II, Antwan (Michaella) Daniels and Xzavier (Regina) Morrell, all of Savannah, GA. His Mother Helen Morrell, Mother -in-law Fannie Mae Jenkins both of Savannah, GA. Two brothers Terrell (Delores) Shaw of Wilmington, NC and Wayne Shaw of Savannah, GA. Three grandchildren K'Mari Daniels, Antwan Daniels II, Antwan Daniels III, and one on the way Zen Morrell. Three sister-in-laws, Ladoris Brewster of Ellenwood,GA , Irene Jenkins of Richmond Hill, GA and Terry Ann Zachary of Decatur, GA. Seven brothers-in-law, Bobby (Ruth-Ann)Jenkins of Decatur, Jimmy(Patricia) Jenkins of Ellenwood,GA. Timothy (Eliazabeth) Whitehead, Cartersville,GA. Charlie (Stephanie) Fish Jr. , Isaac Fish, Jeffrey (Marie) Fish all of Flovilla, GA and Willie Pace Jr. of Ellenwood, GA.; Three close and deciated friends, brothers, Herbert Chaplin, Ishman Harris, Jr. and Nathaniel Batties. Four-god daughters, Ashley McGirt, Precious Chaplin, Christian Shelmman and Jamiyah Thomas, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Second Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, 14022 Coffee Bluff Rd, Savannah, GA 31419.
