Michael Brittingham Simmons, age 62, of Savannah passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021.
Mr. Simmons was born on September 20, 1958 in Savannah, the son of the late Joyce and Herbert Simmons. He was a graduate of Calvary Day School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his military tenure, he began his career as an electrician with the 165th, Georgia Air National Guard, retiring in 2018 after over 30 years of service. He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of Zerubbabel Lodge #15, F.&A.M. where he also served as the Director of Works. He was also a member of Alee Shrine where he was active with the Ritualistic Divan. Outside of work and civic involvement, Mike was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his sister, Elayne Simmons. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cheryl Simmons; son, Michael B. Simmons, Jr. (Katie); daughter, Hillary Hodges (Michael); brothers, John Herbert Simmons, Jr. and Dowe Brittingham; sister, Karen Moats; and grandchildren, Ronnie, Tori, Wyatt, and Kaven.
The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 26, 2021 at Guyton Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
