Michael "Mike" Steven Burgett, 48, of Garden City, Georgia suddenly passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018.
A native Ohio, Mike was the son of the late Clifford Lawrence Burgett and Betty Westfall Burgett.
Mike was a retired US Army veteran. He served during Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom; he was a recipient of numerous medals, badges, decoration and awards. After his retirement he began a 2nd career with the Georgia Ports Authority.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Andrew Burgett.
Survivors include his mother; a daughter and son-in-law, Alexys and Devell Shanks; son, Michael "Popeye" Steven Burgett, Jr.; grandchildren, Adalyn, Kennedy and Penelope; sister, Sue Neal; brother, Jimmie Neal (Cindy); sister-in-law, Terri Burgett; great uncles, James and Clifford Westfall; his chosen family, Brian and Dee Hughes and their children, Justin and Britny; several nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel, Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Burial with Military Honors will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 US Highway 301, Glennville, Georgia 30427.
