Michael Henry Lloyd, age 84, of Savannah passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Lloyd was born on July 8, 1938 in London, England, the son of the late Henry Alfred Lloyd and Daisy Elsie Brazier Lloyd. He attended grammar school in Middlesex, England and continued his formal education at Brunel University London, earning a degree in engineering. While at Brunel he began his apprenticeship specializing in plastics with the Hoover Company and later worked with Empire Plastics. In 1962 he moved to Canada and enjoyed seven years working with General Electric before moving to North Carolina where he worked with Carolina Enterprises in the plastics industry. In 1982, Mr. Lloyd began work with Schlegel in Maryville, Tennessee which later became British Tire and Rubber where he retired. Mike was an avid soccer player while living in England and continued coaching soccer through the years. He also enjoyed tool and die making and creating stained glass pieces. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his many Labradors.
Mr. Lloyd was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Costilow. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Kay Lloyd; daughter, Lisa Kay Faulkner (John); son, Rear Admiral Jason Michael Lloyd (Dulcey); step granddaughter, Rebecah Mosier; and grandchildren, Jack Faulkner, Michael Faulkner (Jordan), Christopher Lloyd, and LCPL James Lloyd.
Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with a private funeral service. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army.
