Michael Francis Daly, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, November 26, 2021.
Michael was born on May 22, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY and was raised at St. John's Orphanage. At 17, he joined the US Navy for two years and then transferred to the US Air Force where he served as an air traffic controller for 23 years retiring as USAF Chief Master Sergeant. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his retirement, he became a civil servant at Hunter Army Airfield where he was an air traffic controller for 20 years before retiring as a GS10.
Mike was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for 40 years where he served as permanent Deacon for 25 years. He was a member of the Legion of Mary and spent much of his time fighting for the rights of the unborn and visiting those who where home bound or in nursing homes.
Mike is preceded in death in by his daughter Mary Smith (Gene).
He leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Vera Alderman Daly; six children, David, Susan Daye, Robert, Joyce, Nancy, Jenny Lane (Clark); six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
A Rosary Service will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.. The family will be receiving friends until 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Monday, December 6, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.
A burial will be planned at a later date.
