Matthew Thomas Yawn

December 25, 1968 — July 31, 2021

Matthew "Matt" Thomas Yawn of Guyton, GA passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Effingham County Hospital from injuries he sustained from a motorcycle accident.

Matt is survived by his children; Skylar Yawn and Kaya Yawn; his parents, Roy C. Yawn , step mother Martha Yawn, mother Marlene S. Spinks, and his sisters Kristin Yawn Royal (Greg), and Cindi Yawn Holton (Kevin). Several nieces and nephews, and many friends he called family.

Matt was born December 25, 1968, in Pontiac, Michigan and graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College where he studied Law Enforcement, as well as the University of West Georgia where he graduated with a degree in Psychology and a 1987 graduate of Windsor Forest High School. He was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Red Wings. Matt was a kind and giving person with an empath's soul. His willingness to accept and love everyone was immeasurable, and he was always available to those in need. Matt's daughters were his life source, and his canine companion and best friend, Tula, was his partner. Tula often rode along with him on his cross-country adventures. Matt died doing what he loved: enjoying an afternoon ride on his motorcycle.

Matt will be deeply missed. His love for God brings his family peace, as they know he is now with our Lord and Savior.

Donations in his memory can be made to Georgia Animal Rescue and Defense (GARD)
