Mary Rose McArdle O'Kane McLendon (Marie) passed away peacefully at home on Christmas eve. Marie was born on oct 9, 1930 in Belfast northern Ireland, She was predeceased by the father of her children Gerard O'Kane, her daughter Siobhan and her second husband Donald McLendon. She is survived by her daughter Nuala, four grandchildren, Colette, Donal, Riley and Nicholas and four great-grandchildren; Vanessa, Aliyah, Richard Paul and Dominic. Marie loved them all dearly and they her. Marie immigrated from Belfast to Jacksonville Florida and raised her children there. Marriage to Donald McLendon brought her to Savannah Ga, and quickly to Tybee Island, which she loved. Marie had a long and successful career in the legal field, retiring from Chatham County Superior Court after over 20 years of dedicated service to Judge Perry Brannen and Judge Louisa Abbott, both of whom she just adored. Retirement brought so much travel. She and Donald enjoyed trips to England and Ireland to see family and friends every other year or so, and then there were all those Georgia football games in the big camper, with lots food and lots of friends and a bottle of wine, maybe... Marie and Don were very fortunate and enjoyed their retirement years (and years) immensely. The grandchildren and even occasional great grand-child enjoyed wonderful trips in that camper. Many friends and family from all over came to visit over the years and all fell in love with Tybee's charm and Don and Marie's gracious hospitality. The family rallied 'round her in this final time. It was difficult and meaningful for all of us. There are family, dear friends and neighbors who also made this time so much easier and very special. Thank You, you know who you are. We also want to thank Hospice Savannah, they were truly angels for us. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to Hospice Savannah or to the charity of your choice. A memorial mass will be held Friday, Jan 5th at 11 am at St. Michael's Church, Tybee Island.
