Mary Joan "Jo" Leath Weems,86, formerly of St. Augustine, Fla passed away peacefully on June 26, 2019 at Habersham House in Savannah, Ga.
She was born in Birmingham, Alabama to David and Josie Leath February 22, 1933. Jo attended both the University of Alabama and Auburn University. She become a radiology technologist before returning to school and getting her Masters of Science from Nova University in 1983. She retired as a school administrator from Palm Beach County Schools.
After retirement, Jo enjoyed traveling with her husband, Dennis W. Weems. Together, they traveled the country in their RV and also enjoyed several trips abroad. In addition to traveling, her hobbies included artistry, gardening, boating, and fishing. She loved to be near the water.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
Surviving are her son Drs. David H. Weems (Diane) of Savannah; two grandsons, Christopher Weems (Nichole) of Austin, Tx and Matthew Weems (Natalie Henshaw) of Savannah, Ga.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 8 from 9-10 AM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel with a funeral service to be held at 10 AM.
Interment will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to your local Animal Shelter in honor of Mrs. Weems, who was an animal lover.
