Jewel was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband John Daniel McPhail in 2009, who she was married to for 63 years, and their son John Daniel McPhail, Jr. in 2004. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Budd (Gary) of Benicia, CA, and Margie McKinley (Edmon) of Thomasville, AL; 6 grandchildren-Emily Budd Petteys (Matt) of Folsom, CA, Amber Budd Koster (John) of Castro Valley, CA, Ryan Budd (Susan) of Fairfield, CA, Patrick McKinley of Lakeland, FL, Mechel McKinley Hoffman (David) of Atlanta, GA and Mary Jacob McKinley of Charleston, SC; 8 great-grandchildren-Joy, Grace, and Adam Petteys, Claire and Zachary Koster, Mason and Ethan Budd, all of northern California, and Colin Prior of Atlanta, GA; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Jewel took bridge and painting classes at the local college where she discovered her two hidden talents, bridge and painting. She played in duplicate tournaments where she earned Life Master bridge status in 1994 and continued playing bridge until she became ill four months ago. She also enjoyed painting, embroidery, crocheting, and reading. She loved her family dearly and will be sorely missed.
