Mary Elizabeth Todd Yokum

Mary Elizabeth Todd Yokum, 101, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away May 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born July 19, 1919 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Harry Clifford and Mattie Mae Newsome Todd. She moved to Savannah, GA in 1936 and was of Catholic faith.

Mrs. Yokum was employed as a Secretary with the Chatham County Board of Education for 25 years. Later, she assisted her daughter, Carolyn, in the day to day operations of Atlantic Coast Elevator for 7 years before retiring.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. “Jack” Yokum. Jr., a brother, William “Bill” Wade Roberts and a sister, Catherine Luther. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Yokum Beebe of Savannah and Jane Yokum Gruber of Aiken, SC; four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held May 7, 2021 from 11am- 1pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA. Graveside services will be held immediately following visitation at Bonaventure Cemetery with Father Gabe Cummings officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Yokum’s honor to a Hospice of your choice.
