Mary Louise Alley Cox, age 101, of Savannah passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 24, 2022. She was a resident of The Oaks at Pooler.
Mary was born in 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late August Earl Alley and Lizzie Mae Alley. Mary was a homemaker and an Air Force wife, following her husband from Alabama to Japan, Puerto Rico and many bases across the United States. She was a member of The Church at Godley Station, holding the distinction of being the oldest member of the congregation.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Willis S. Cox; her parents; and her sister, Betty Huckabee of Sylacauga, Alabama.
She is survived by her son, Earl Cox (Brenda); daughter, Elizabeth Claxton (Jerry); grandchildren, Michelle Thompson (Alex), Lisa Grassi (Daniel), Michael Claxton (Amy), Greg Claxton (Christy), Sherri Lynn Schaff (Casey) as well as 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 29. 2022 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406 with a service immediately following at 2:00 p.m.. A burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, GA 31404.
