Mary Frances Rushing Cook, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, September 5, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born in Register, Georgia on September 23,1934 to John Cecil and Thelma Keel Rushing and raised in Statesboro, Georgia where she graduated from Statesboro High School. She was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband, Lee Roy Cook, Jr., the love of her life, whom she married in 1954. Mary was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She loved to feed people, and one of her greatest joys was serving her family. Mary was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She held many positions there, as she had a strong faith and a
servant’s heart. Of the many roles she lovingly fulfilled over the years, coordinating the Greeters was one of her favorites. She was always at the door on Sunday mornings greeting her fellow church members and guests. She also loved being Church Hostess for the many weddings held at Trinity, a ministry she dedicated herself to for more than 10 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia McNeal (Bill) of Savannah; her son, Dennis Cook (Paula) of Ellabell; her daughter, Teresa Lassiter (Chief) of Birmingham; and her grandchildren, Christina McNeal of Savannah, Georgia, Will McNeal (Whitney) of Mount Pleasant, Harrison Cook of Ellabell, Katherine Lassiter Cherukuri (Chandu) of Birmingham and Anna Lassiter of Memphis.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Upper Black Creek Cemetery 2925 Mud Rd, Brooklet, GA 30415.
