Mary Burris Shearouse

Mary Burris Shearouse, age 82, of Savannah passed away Friday, May 14, 2021.

Mrs. Shearouse was born on May 21, 1938, the daughter of Sol and Mary Padgett Burris. She was a 1956 graduate of Commercial High School. After graduating she worked with Columbia Drug Store and later with the chemical division of Union Camp. Following her time at the paper mill she worked with Caribbean Lumber Company and later with Zittrouer & Associates, Inc. where she retired. She grew up attending Morningside Baptist Church, but later became a longtime member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church. She was a 50 year member and Past Worthy Matron of White Star Chapter #367, Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Shearouse was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Harry L. Shearouse, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Deford (John); son, Harry L. Shearouse, III (Stephanie); sister, Sandra Davis; grandchildren, Lara Sutherland (James), Katie Horn, Dallas Shearouse (Savanah), Sean Shearouse, and Mark Boatright; great-grandchildren, Sean Sutherland, Ryan Sutherland, Warren Shearouse, Nolan Shearouse, Marley Boatright, and Kinsley Horn; her beloved pet, Buddy; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
