Mrs. Marilyn Perkins Best, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024 in her home.
Born in Statesboro, GA., Marilyn was the daughter of the late William Sydney Perkins and Louise Dasher Perkins. Marilyn was a graduate of Statesboro High School and Brewton Parker College.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed listening to gospel and classical music, nature, and spending time with her children and grandchildren whenever the opportunity arose. Marilyn faithfully served the various congregations her husband Earl pastored throughout his 40 years in the ministry.
Marilyn was a strong woman who lived life with optimism, perseverance, and faith. No matter what challenges life brought her way, she leaned on God for strength. At the end of her life, she found peace in the knowledge that she was going to a place of rest and no pain because of her belief in Jesus Christ.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Benjamin Earl Best; and her brother, William C. “Bill” Perkins.
She is survived by two children; her daughter, Wendolyn Best of Dallas, TX, and her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Julie Best of Savannah, GA; her five grandchildren, Benjamin (Miriam) Johnson of Cumming, GA., Brittany (Alex) Imani of Dallas, TX., Noah Best, Ally Best, and Emma Best all of Savannah, GA.; one great-granddaughter, Charlie Johnson of Cumming, GA.; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Perkins of Statesboro, GA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
A private entombment will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
