Marilee May Short, 75 of Savannah, Georgia, died December 7 th , 2022 in the comfort of her home.
The daughter of Donald Louis May and Rosalie West May, Marilee was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, but moved with her family at the age of three to Savannah, where she lived for the rest of
her life. She was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy, Class of 1965. First and foremost, Marilee was a devoted mother to her four children, and lived her life for them. After her children, her second passion was art, as she pursued her love for painting through her artwork for decades. An avid enthusiast of Cherokee culture, Marilee celebrated her Native American heritage through her art, as well as music, dance, and pow-wows. She was a devout Catholic, and active in the ministries of several churches. She was kind to everyone, a gentle spirt, and had a heart of gold. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to help someone in need.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Short and Christi Short Kelly; two sons, Bill Schilling and Scott Short; daughter-in laws Elaine Schilling and Ellen Short; son-in-law Tim Kelly; and grandchildren Jessica Kelly Ragland, Drew Schilling, Kate Schilling, and Tom Schilling. She is also survived by four sisters, Ellen May Roach, Donna May Amyx, Priscilla May Russell, and Alicia May Walker. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Whitt Elmo Short, Jr.
Her family will miss her dearly, but treasure the many fond memories she gave them.
