Margie Malphrus Hatchell, 96, of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully October 3, 2020 at Buckingham South.
She was born in Ridgeland, SC on June 20, 1924 to the late Herman and Maggie Strong Malphrus. She moved to Savannah in 1944 where she married Thomas Ralph Hatchell, Sr. in 1945. They were married 55 years until his death in 2000. Margie was a faithful woman of prayer who diligently prayed for others over her lifetime. After walking closely with her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for many decades, she is at last safely home and at rest in the presence of her glorious King and her loved ones who have gone before her. She was a longtime member of Thunderbolt Baptist Church and Coastal Cathedral Church of God.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two sons, Danny Hatchell, Sr. and Thomas Hatchell, Jr.; a daughter, Donna Kay Faircloth; siblings, Bobby (Leila) Malphrus, Devant (Carolyn) Malphrus, Francis Malphrus, Ralph Malphrus, Helen (Sandy) Sandretto, Katie Arnett, Betty Taylor, and Shirley Bowers.
Surviving are a son, Terry (Tronda) Hatchell; two daughters-in-law, Pam Hatchell and Margaret Hatchell; a son-in-law, Mallon Faircloth; siblings, Herman (Geneva) Malphrus, Donnie (Judy) Malphrus, Sandra Breland, and Linda (Charlie) Whittle; nine grandchildren, Chloe Hatchell, Danny Hatchell, Jr., Mindy Pierce, Hayley Odom, Ashley Carson, Diane Andrews, Beth Hatchell, Steve Hatchell, and Tom Hatchell; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family is especially grateful to her longtime caregiver, Jeri Roberson, for her loving care and companionship.
Pallbearers will be Danny Hatchell, Jr., Eugene Pierce, Luke Pierce, Van Malphrus, Waco Patterson, and Rocky Ball.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 11am-Noon with the Funeral Service to begin at Noon in the Chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel with Reverend Ricky Sandretto officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
