Lucile Eleanor Caraker, age 79, of Atlanta, GA, departed this life on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, after an extended illness.
Eleanor was born in Savannah on November 24, 1937, the only child of the late Walter J. Caraker and Lucile Murphy Caraker.
She grew up in Savannah and attended Savannah High School. She went on to the University of Georgia and received her Bachelor's Degree from Georgia State University.
Eleanor settled in Atlanta and had a long career with the Holland-America Line as executive assistant in the Atlanta office, and later retired from Hartford Life Insurance Company. She was a member of St. James Methodist Church. After retirement she enjoyed travelling with friends, often to Florida.
She is survived by six cousins: Jean S. Michael of Hollywood, SC; Christopher Murphy and Sean Murphy, both of Augusta, GA; Cole Murphy of Washington, DC; Richard Murphy of Jacksonville, FL, and Andrew Caraker of Orlando, FL.
Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Bonaventure Funeral Home in Savannah, GA.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, April 22, 2017, Graveside at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park, East, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, GA.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St James Methodist Church in Atlanta.
