Louise Singleton Campbell was born to the late John Duncan Singleton Sr. and Rebecca (Hall) Singleton on June 12, 1941. She was the second of four children. After the death of her mother, Louise was raised by her beloved grandmother, Hattie Hall in Savannah, Georgia. She often attributed her sense of style to her grandmother. As a teenager, Louise moved to Michigan. Wherever she went, people were immediately drawn to her warm personality and bright smile. One day, that smile caught the eye of a handsome neighbor named Louis Campbell, “Billy” to his friends. The couple married two years later. Louise earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wayne State University. She began her career with the Detroit Public School system and proudly held many positions in her 30-year tenure. She was most devoted to special education. Her various roles included classroom instructor, language arts specialist and early intervention consultant for infants and toddlers with disabilities. For her dedication to enhancing students’ lives, she was honored by the Detroit City Council with the Spirit of Detroit Award for educational excellence. In 2003, Louise retired to a life of gardening, decorating and Bid Whist playing in Savannah, Georgia. She became active in the Windsor Forest Garden Club, Red Hat Society and Zeta Phi Beta sorority. With her boundless energy and avid interest in higher learning. She earned a doctorate in Nouthetic Counseling in 2012. Dr. Campbell transitioned from this life on Monday, March 3, 2025 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved Billy, with whom a blessed union endured more than 50 years. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Albertha Loadholt and Florence Jenkins; and brother John “Bubba” Singleton Jr. Louise leaves a legacy of love to her faithful and devoted daughters; Lolita LeNoir of Farmington Hills, Michigan; Colette Campbell-Williams of Savannah, Georgia; granddaughter Rebecca Williams of Savannah, Georgia; nieces, Dr. Terri Jenkins of Savannah, Georgia, and Audrey Jenkins of Brooklyn, New York; grandnephews, Loadholt Jr. of Savannah, Georgia, Tavaris Jenkins and Elijah Jenkins of Brooklyn, New York. Sweet memories will always be cherished by all those who met her. We join a host of family and friends in mourning our loss and celebrating her wonderful life.
