Louis Herbert Richardson Sr., 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital, Savannah, Georgia.
The Chatham County native was retired from Georgia Port Authority Railroad. Louis proudly served his country in the Air National Guard during the Korean War.
Survivors include Dorothy, his beloved wife of 71 years; 3 children, Janice Green (Barney) of Florence, SC, Louis Richardson, Jr (Ruth) of Marietta, GA, Stephanie Chance (Frank) of Richmond Hill, GA; 7 grandchildren, Barney Green, Alison Benson, Megan McTeer, Brittany Bowman, Louis Richardson III, Kyle Canady and Chelsey Wood; 17 great-grandchildren, Blakely, Sawyer, and Sadie Green; Jonathan and Savannah Benson; Liam, Lily, Judah and Eli McTeer; Juniper and Melody Bowman; Louis Richardson IV, Annie and Ansel Richardson; Seth and Miles Canady; Benjamin Wood.
He served the Lord and those around him faithfully for 92 years. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by loving family members who recounted their memories of Louis’ leadership and love for his family.
Louis and Dorothy were active at First Alliance Church on Drayton Street in Savannah. After its closing, they became members of Independent Presbyterian Church on Bull Street in Savannah. Louis had a deep love for music and a wonderful Irish tenor voice that he used to share his faith and belief in Jesus. He was also active for many years with the local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the Hodgson Memorial Chapel at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
