Louie Barnwell Brooks, Jr.

Louie Barnwell Brooks, Jr., age 87, of Cape Coral, FL and formerly of Advance, NC passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 in Savannah, GA.
Mr. Brooks was born on July 6, 1933 in Dillon, SC, the son of the late Margaret Edwards and Louie Barnwell Brooks, Sr. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and then went to North Carolina State University and the University of South Carolina where he studied engineering on the G.I. Bill, afterwards he worked as an Estimator for the commercial construction industry until he retired.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Jo Ann Buff Brooks. He is survived by his son, Barney Brooks; daughter, Kara Susan Freeman (Brian William); grandchildren, Jennifer Bankston, Joshua Crickard (Alicia), James Crickard, Troy Brooks (Jillene), and Trent Brooks; step-granddaughters, Brittany Freeman and Alexa Freeman; and 4 great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Mr. Brooks’ name can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
