Lorenzo Dow "L.D." McCullough, age 103, of Richmond Hill went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at his residence.
Mr. McCullough was born on April 7, 1920 in Burke County, Georgia to the late Leonard Leonidas McCullough and the late Minnie Myra Royal McCullough. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, and was a member of the National Timberwolf Pup Association, 104th Infantry Division. He retired from Ferrellgas as a service manager. Mr. McCullough was a member of Bloomingdale Alliance Church.
L.D. loved God, his family, friends, the Braves, and his “babydoll,” the affectionate nickname he gave Betty. He loved his children, grandchildren and all children. He was known for slipping money or peppermints into their hands when he would see them. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clark Edward Seymour, Jr.; and was the last surviving of 15 siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Kelly McCullough; daughter and son-in-law, Patti & Tommy Casey; daughter-in-law, Lu Seymour; five grandchildren, Shelly Cannon, Becky Seymour Walker (Dwayne), Thomas Casey (Bailey), Amber Seymour, and Kelly Casey; three great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Thomas Casey, Eddie Fleming, Coy Kelly, Wayne McCullough, Gary McCullough, and Larry Drawdy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Howard App, Robert Daniel, and Jimmy Davis.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Bloomingdale Alliance Church (PO Box 280 Bloomingdale, GA 31312) or to a charity of your choice.
